Fabricated Grating

[ikgcd_ikg_breadcrumb title=”Pressure Locked” _builder_version=”3.27.4″ global_colors_info=”{}”][/ikgcd_ikg_breadcrumb]
Fabricated pressure-locked bar grating from IKG® can be custom-made to your exact specifications for your project. Project managers are available every step of way, to answer questions on fabrication, material, coatings and finishes, as well as delivery and installation.

Pressure-locked bar grating is among the oldest and most versatile types of grating. Created by bonding together the metal bars under intense pressure without the use of heat or rivets leave clean, uncluttered lines. The resulting architectural appearance is attractive for grillwork, screens, dividers and other applications where maximum passage of heat, light and air is desired.

Fabricated pressure-locked bar grating incorporates tight-fitting, slotted bearing bars and cross bars, locked together. The permanent locking of the bars is accomplished by slotting the bearing bars with a wider ‘dovetail’ shape at the bottom of the slot. When the bars are pressed together under hydraulic pressure, the cross bar material is forced into the ‘dovetail’ shape of the bearing bar notch, forming a strong, ridged product.

Pressure locked grating is available with close bar spacing to accommodate requirements for pedestrian comfort and safety, and many other architectural needs for special grating for a particular job.

What is the ADA?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law in 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. (adata.org)

IKG provides several products that help cities comply with the ADA. Fabricated pressurelocked bar grating panels can be fabricated so that they satisfy the maximum ½-in. clear opening required by the ADA. These panels are excellent for pedestrian use and areas where high visibility is a concern.

Stock Panels Pressure Locked

Carbon, Stainless, and Aluminum

B – (P-19-4)
The standard B product is approved for all general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.
D – (P-15-4)
The standard D product is for general purposes with bearing bars on 15/16-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers for conditions where more surface area is required.
F – (P-19-2)
The standard F product is for general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 2-in. centers for conditions where more surface area is required.
CM4 – (P-11-4)
The CM4 close mesh product has bearing bars spaced 11/16-in. on center and cross bars spaced 4-in. on center. Provides larger open area for use where more ventilation is required beneath the grating. Satisfies maximum 1/2-in. clear opening as required by the ADA, if bearing bars have 3/16-in. thickness.
CM1 – (P-7-4)
The CM1 close mesh product has bearing bars spaced 7/16-in. on center and cross bars spaced 4-in. on center. This is our closest-spaced grating available. Excellent for pedestrian use where high visibility is a concern. Satisfies maximum 1/2-in. clear opening as required by the ADA.
